This Beacon EmbeddedWorks customer’s first-generation product utilized our Torpedo™ System on Module (SOM). When the customer heard about our newest i.MX 8M Mini SOM they returned to our team to help streamline their product update and proactively prepare for their next generation device.
Implantable Vision Restoration
A medical device innovator came to Beacon EmbeddedWorks to develop a solution to restore vision to people who are affected by blindness. Leveraging the Torpedo + Wireless SOM, the project succeeded in delivering a first-of-its-kind vision solution. With over 350 successful applications of the device, the customer has continued to work with Beacon EmbeddedWorks to develop their next generation solution.
Veterinary Testing
Veterinarians are busy doctors and, with examining an average of 40 animals in a single day, they must be very efficient with their time. Utilizing the customer’s test strips helps doctors diagnose patients efficiently by displaying results during an 8-10 minute activation window; saving them time from lengthy lab testing.
Next Generation Defibrillator
A defibrillator saves lives when seconds count. Because of this, the demand is on the rise for portable defibrillators in schools and businesses. In response, healthcare companies continue to research and develop (R&D) defibrillators that are easier-to-use, lighter weight for ease of transport, provide faster battery recharge time, and can be used on adults, children, or infants. This customer came to Beacon EmbeddedWorks to create a next generation defibrillator while accelerating time to market.
Connected Defibrillators
This medical device customer recognized the importance of creating a Wi-Fi connected defibrillator monitor that is small, rugged, and powerful. The new connected device would enable first responders to send vital information to doctors before the patient arrives at the hospital. This new functionality is possible through combining defibrillation technology with patient monitoring and network connectivity capabilities. To aid in designing and producing this revolutionary device, the customer chose to work with our team at Beacon EmbeddedWorks.
Chromatography
This client returned to Beacon EmbeddedWorks to assist in creating a device that combines chromatography and detection technologies into a single, easy-to-operate instrument. The device would hone precision, simplify, and automate the chemical purification process. This would free chemists from tedious purification so they can focus on conducting scientific discovery.
Vision Aid for the Blind
Compass Electronics Solutions was approached by a medical device company to deliver a high-speed, small form-factor electronic solution to drive their wearable electronic vision-aid technology. Our team recommended the versatile Torpedo™ System on Module (SOM), a solution that would exceed specifications and jumpstart development of a groundbreaking solution for the vision impaired.
Medical Teaching Technology
Medical Education Technologies, Inc. (METI) sought to reduce costs and obsolescence associated with their line of human patient simulators used around the world to train medical staff. Beacon EmbeddedWorks was chosen to partner with METI to help create a Universal Simulation Engine (USE) to combine required controls and components; reducing costs by 40% and eliminating the potential for obsolescence.
